When I started this website, I listed a few great resources on the right sidebar, but I just realized that I’ve never written about them in a post before. So, I thought I’d take a moment to list them here and explain how each one can be helpful on your journey to photograph the wonderful natural world:

#1 – Moon Phase Calendar

This website will show you the moon phases for the current calendar month. It’s helpful when you’re trying to plan a landscape shot and need the moon to be in a specific phase (mostly likely full). 11 great resources for night photography

When the sun goes down, you might normally put away your camera and head home or crawl into your sleeping bag, but what about all that wonderful natural light you only find at night?

From the countless stars, meteors, distant planets, to the light of the moon, the night sky offers a pretty spectacular light show! And although the light may be dim, it’s definitely still possible to capture some of it.

Free software for landscape photographers

photogephFor landscape photography, it’s good to always be aware of the sunrise/sunset times, and the sun’s azimuth at these times. It helps to know this for the moon too (as well as the current phase). Lots of information to keep track of, huh?

Well, luckily there’s a free program out there that will help you do all this and more! It’s called The Photographer’s Ephemeris, and it’s developed by Stephen Trainor.
